Objectives

At the LEGO Group, we are committed to building a sustainable future and making a positive impact on our planet. Our environmental goals include using sustainable materials, improving packaging, achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and protect natural resources (including water and biodiversity). We aim to maintain high environmental standards across our entire value chain, from suppliers to consumers.

Goals

  • Sustainable materials: Create LEGO® bricks from sustainable sources without compromising quality or safety.

  • Renewable energy & energy efficiency: Decarbonize our operations by continuously improving energy efficiency and obtaining energy from renewable sources.

  • Sustainable packaging: Make packaging more sustainable by eliminating single use plastic.

  • Zero Waste: Achieve zero waste from all LEGO factories, offices, and stores.

  • Circularity: Design products and packaging for a circular economy and explore new business models to ensure LEGO bricks never go to waste.

  • Carbon Emissions: Meet our science-based targets of reducing our absolute GHG emissions by 37% by 2032 compared to 2019., and to reach net-zero GHG emissions by 2050.

  • Legal Compliance: Fully comply with all environmental laws and regulations.

Approach to business activities

We strive to embed sustainability into our daily operations and continuously improve our environmental performance. We engage employees at all levels in environmental activities and embrace sustainable technologies and practices. We monitor, measure, and evaluate our progress towards our environmental goals by collaborating with employees, experts, and non-governmental organizations (NGO’s).

  • Operations: We minimize environmental impacts in our operations, comply with relevant legislation, and certify our production sites to international standards (ISO 14001 and ISO 50001). We also adhere to the UN Global Compact principles.

  • Suppliers: We set environmental standards for our suppliers, conduct audits, and engage with them to improve their environmental performance through the Supplier Sustainability program.

By working together, we aim to protect natural resources and reduce our climate impact, ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
